IDC Celebrates Five Years of Successful Graduate Training

As one of the most established product design companies in the UK, IDC (Industrial Design Consultancy), offers a popular graduate training programme. Launched five years ago, the scheme seeks career-hungry graduate design engineers who can demonstrate the highest levels of innovation and commitment. In return, IDC offers a structured programme which is designed to expose new graduates to different work experiences over a period of time to develop their skills and expertise.

This month IDC welcomed two new graduates to the scheme, Peter Hiles and William Pargeter. Both William and Peter worked at IDC for a year in 2016 on university placements, returning to their studies last year. Now having completed their degrees, both were offered jobs as design engineers on IDC’s graduate training programme.

IDC offers a first-class learning environment; with experts from all design disciplines and a separate model making and rapid prototyping division (IDC Models) working together under one roof. Graduates benefit from IDC’s core values of teamwork and friendliness while undertaking the training scheme.

IDC’s MD, Stephen Knowles, explains, “Many of IDC’s team joined as new graduates and some have progressed on to management and board level, so we have an excellent record of developing our staff internally. We have worked closely with our previous graduates to design the training programme as they understand how best to nurture the new recruits and develop their talent. We also work closely with leading universities to offer work placements for student design engineers.”

IDC’s graduate training scheme is structured to include comprehensive training for CAD; client communication and presentation skills; design for manufacture with a focus on materials, manufacturing, suppliers and quality experience; as well as essential project management skills. At the end of the programme, graduates will become fully accredited engineers and designers.

IDC is an award winning product design company offering a fast-paced design environment, and with offices in Shanghai, there are also international design opportunities. IDC is looking for highly creative and committed individuals who want to achieve the highest level possible in their career.
