IDC Celebrates Wayv’s Win for First Portable Microwave

International product design and development company, IDC (Industrial Design Consultancy), is delighted to announce that one of its most exciting current projects, Wayv, has won crowdfunding Product of the Year.

Working for Wayv Technologies Ltd, IDC is supporting the development of highly innovative technology to produce the world’s first small-form, portable solid state microwave. Wayv received the prestigious award from global crowdfunding leader Crowdcube after a phenomenal response to its portable microwave concept. Wayv was the 2nd fastest equity raised in UK crowdfunding history.

In conferring the award, the cross-industry panel of judges made the following comments,“Innovative, impressive and utterly unexpected, Wayv Technologies have managed to take something familiar and completely reinvent our understanding of its potential.”

The funding received via Crowdcube enabled Wayv to take the conceptual development forward with IDC’s ongoing support in industrial design, mechanical and electronic engineering, as well as prototyping through IDC Models. Still in development, the final microwave will be of a small-form, lightweight and highly portable and is designed to incorporate the latest mobile-power technology incorporating a multi-volt rechargeable powerpack in combination with in-built high-efficiency solar cells to recharge on the go.

Already fully patented, Wayv’s portable microwave has been designed for use across multiple vertical markets, whether it is a soldier on manoeuvres, a weekend adventurer, a parent with a hungry infant, a student in a bedsit or aiding disaster relief causes. With a ready market looking for innovation, Wayv presents a perfect platform to deliver the change from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

IDC’s Projects Director, Brian Gough, explains, “This truly is a ground-breaking development – the product is using solid state microwave technology in a way that has never been done before in a mobile environment. We are delighted that our design, engineering and modelling teams are contributing to such a cutting edge product. This is an exciting time for Wayv, with a working model expected imminently.”
