As a leading, globally recognised product design company, we know the value of bright, fresh minds in combination with experienced experts.

We have an outstanding team of industrial designers and engineers and insist on a multi-national as well as multi-disciplinary team for both our UK and China offices.

Our team includes designers, mechanical and electronics engineers, model makers and project managers. For all their diversity and complementary skills, our staff share a common desire to solve problems, take on new challenges and, most importantly, to develop successful products for our clients and their customers.

IDC frequently works with organisations across the globe and has multilingual designers to support this. Spoken languages include Spanish, French, German, Polish and Mandarin.

Managing Director

A chartered engineer, with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Stephen has wide experience of managing and undertaking technical and non-technical projects and has a thorough understanding of all aspects of design and manufacture. Taking an overview role, he acts as a technical resource and internal reviewer to ensure deliverables are met.

With over twenty-five years' experience managing design projects, Brian has a deep understanding of the product development process and design engineering. Brian has delivered a wide range of ‘turn key’ projects for consumer, business machines and medical products manufactured in Europe, India and China.

Technical Director

Michael is the Technical Director of IDC China. An MEng graduate from Brunel University, he is also a Design Engineer and Project Manager in the IDC China team and is responsible for ensuring the world-class quality of design and engineering of IDC China.

He has experience developing breakthrough technologies, designing new products and devices in industrial and consumer sectors, and he has Red-Dot award-winning products in the medical sector.

Yifei Dai

Managing Director

Holding a MA in International marketing, Fei has been working in the business consulting industry for over thirteen years. With a strong background of consumer and business research, she has lead research projects for both domestic and international known consumer brands.

Fei has also successfully advised western businesses and consumer brands on how to market and become established in China. In the past 8 years, Fei has been working in the design and creative industry, internationally and in China. She leads IDC's talented multi-discipline team in Shanghai, growing IDC’s business in China.

James Coleman

James Coleman

Senior Design Engineer

James is our medical Innovation and Integration Lead, with a degree in Industrial Design and Technology from the renowned Loughborough University.

James has more than 10 years’ experience of the product development process from concept to post production. He has worked as a Senior Design Engineer for Dyson within the UK, China and Malaysia. He leads the design and engineering integration, ensuring best practice when developing concepts into products.

Sebastien Frys

Sebastien Frys

Design Engineer

Sebastien has extensive experience of working in China, UK and France, developing sophisticated award winning robotic and interactive systems.With a BSc in Electronics, an MSc in Mechanical Design Engineering, and an MDes in Industrial Innovation, he has the perfect set of skills to solve highly complex interdisciplinary problems to help businesses make a difference through design. His specialisms include mechatronics systems, human machine interaction, and user experiences design.
