International product design company, Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC) is delighted to announce that it has been awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certification by the BSI.

The achievement highlights IDC’s commitment to best practice in design and development. It also provides a significant advantage in terms of competition. Unlike many consultancies who work purely on the design side, the ISO 13485 and 9001 accreditation covers the entire development process. This allows IDC Models, the model making and prototyping arm of IDC, to provide a level of quality assurance support that is unique amongst its competitors.

Julian Swan, Engineering Director at IDC, explains, “For us, it is not just about creating a design concept but taking it all the way to production to see its success in the marketplace. To ensure that happens, all our products must meet stringent quality assurance standards. It’s a natural and essential part of the process in world-class consultancy.”

The company has received much positive feedback about its analytical approach, which informs a design in line with medical regulations. Swan continues, “We identify risks and respond to any potential challenges, guiding clients throughout the development process and considering regulatory aspects at every stage. Understanding the demands of global markets, patient populations, expert users and regulatory organisations, such as the FDA, is paramount to designing the best quality medical products. We will continue to improve our methodologies to ensure we deliver the best outcome for patients and the best results for our clients’ businesses.”

The ISO certification was achieved within a tight timeframe of six months through the quality, commitment & expertise of IDC’s team.
