Automatic External Defibrillator, (AED), Trainer

SHENZHEN XFT
AED Trainer

AED Trainers are used to train First-Aiders and Paramedics in the use of Automatic External Defibrillators. XFT wished to re-design their previous AED Trainer as a result of criticism by distributors and users.

IDC started by gathering feedback from users and distributors regarding the problems with the previous product; identifying the products’ size, control layout and quality as particular issues.

A range of concepts was developed focusing on solving these issues by creating a design to compliment the forms and intuitive control layouts found in the best selling/performing AEDs’, (Automatic External Defibrillators), on the market.

Following feedback from US distributors, IDC refined the selected concept. Working closely with the client, the design was developed in detail for manufacture and CAD data issued for prototyping and production.

The form builds on the design direction that IDC created for previous XFT products featuring soft pillowed forms and human contours to enable handling of the device. The curved form integrates a soft touch battery cover to enable secure grip. The cover also provides access to a secondary compartment containing a replaceable software/language module. The control layout groups the AED controls on the front face with secondary controls around the side of the device allowing them to be located on the single PCB within the product.
