Female Massager
IDC created an intimate massager that proved to be a phenomenal commercial success, gaining numerous positive reviews in media.
On average about 40-45% of adult women display at least one symptom of sexual dysfunction. IDC were tasked with designing a feminine product that was both attractive in looks as well as safe to use. Vielle commissioned IDC to create a product that could address and solve these issues.
IDC commissioned a detailed ergonomic and anthropometric evaluation of the male and female fingers as well as the female anatomy in order to establish how best to design the product. The end product was a Class 1 medical device; which was designed for single use – easy to use but difficult to reuse – and to tear on removal from the finger. It was ergonomically tested and comfortable to utilize.
This data formed the basis for the initial industrial design concept ideas, which explored a variety of visual themes. The preferred concept was developed using Pro-Engineer software. A series of prototypes were created using vacuum casting for use in testing. IDC carried out detailed materials research and testing and sourced the toolmaker / moulder.
Vielle has proved to be an extraordinary commercial success since its exclusive launch via a major UK retailer. The product has gained positive reviews in numerous newspaper articles and TV features.
