Constant innovation is required to stay ahead of the competition within the field of fast moving consumer goods. IDC worked with Reckitt Benckiser’s Air Care division to develop the first air freshener with a battery powered fan. With a product appearance that sits comfortably anywhere in the home and user friendly operation, Mobil’ Air was a breakthrough product and is selling in the millions throughout the world.

Part of Reckitt’s development requirement, was the product should have a quality feel and be designed for low cost, high volume manufacture. The fragrance plume should be effective and the battery and fragrance life should meet Reckitt’s specifications.

IDC took a ground up approach to the product’s design: generating emotive styling concept for the enclosures; fragrance refill options; testing fragrance emission and air flow; assessing power supplies; managing the development of the control circuit; inhouse manufacturing and testing of working prototypes and overseeing production implementation.
