"Hello, welcome to Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC). My name is Stephen Knowles and I'm the Managing Director and we're going to give you an introduction to what we do as a company and how we help our clients develop new products.
Industrial Design Consultancy is a full service product design and development consultancy and we specialise in taking products from the first idea all the way to production and manufacture, solving all the problems and delivering solutions at every stage of that process. We work with companies large and small, from big multinationals, down to small SME's and even individual inventors, and we tailor our approach to suit their needs and make sure that we deliver commercial results and commercial success for them.
We work in many different sectors, specifically; the medical sector developing drug delivery devices and surgical equipment and patient monitors for example, consumer products, we work on business machines and industrial products making industrial machinery and equipment, and we also work in the transport sector developing different products for transport related applications.
We have a broad based, multidisciplinary team here at IDC that comprise Industrial Designers, Engineers and Rapid Prototyping professionals. The Industrial Designers are focussed on the human interaction of products, the look, feel and behaviour of people around products, making sure that the products are as satisfying to use as possible. Our team of highly skilled engineers work to develop the detail, making sure that the internals and mechanisms work efficiently and effectively and that the product can be manufactured, that the price is right and that all the details necessary for manufacture are defined and worked out. And then out team of highly skilled prototyping professionals work very closely supporting this process to develop rapid prototyping and models which allow ideas to be tested and allow the whole process and development process to be compressed, delivering solutions much more quickly. That's all combined with project management and client management to make sure that the whole process is delivered successfully and that the clients are kept informed at every step so we can deliver exactly what they need as quickly as possible.
A lot of our projects have a large content of regulatory support, testing and experimentation and also working with patents, and by doing this research based work it helps us to deliver a lot of innovative and cutting edge products which gives advantages to our clients.
IDC is based in Datchet, just 15 or 20 minutes from Heathrow airport, and we also have an office in Shanghai, where we can support clients across China and also across the globe.
