IDC to Showcase Award-Winning Medical Products at CMEF

The international new product development agency, Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd (IDC), will this year be exhibiting its latest collection of innovative, life-enhancing and life-saving medical device designs at the China Medical Equipment Fair, 18-21 April, 2010, STAND H2-L34-2.

After opening an office in Hong Kong back in 2008 and Shanghai in 2009, IDC has fast developed a strong reputation in the China region for medical device design, combining the expertise of its in-house team of engineers, designers and model-makers and on-the-ground understanding of Chinese and Western markets.

Amongst several award-winning devices, the product design and development team will be showcasing a significantly lower cost, high quality Automatic Electro Defibrillation Training devoce (AED Trainer) used to train professionals and amateurs how to restart the heart. Recently launched to market by Chinese client XFT Shenzhen Xunfengtong, the AED Trainer sits alongside IDC’s previous design for the company, the XFT CPR Assistant. As the first product to couple spoken life-saving instructions with a cleverly sculpted head and neck support for optimum CPR positioning, as well as a friendly price tag, the CPR Assistant is already attracting much attention. The life saving product, used for both training and emergency, is in use in Chinese airports as well being used at the Asian Games.

Another revolutionary product on show is a unique type of insulin pen commissioned by Indian healthcare giant, Wockhardt, which has won multiple awards and global recognition. The product design promises to help transform diabetes care as a disposable, reusable and significantly affordable alternative to other more costly products on offer to Indian consumers. IDC was awarded best ‘Product Design Innovation’ and ‘Design Collaboration’ at the IDEA Awards, and the device has also been widely praised by the medical industry.

A range of other ground-breaking products will be on display, from an intelligent personal ECG (Electrocardiogram) heart monitor for Medick Healthcare to the pioneering LMA LoTrach™ Tracheal Seal Monitor for LMA LoTrach™ Endotracheal and Tracheostomy tubes that help prevent lung infections such as pneumonia in intensive care patients (designed for Venner Trading (Singapore) Pte Ltd.). A brand new product design completed for Chinese client, Wegosutures, will also be available to see for the first time.

IDC will also be illustrating how such medical clients have benefited enormously from its dedicated rapid prototyping and model making service (www.idcmodels.com), which reduces the time and risk often associated with developing new medical products by creating SLA rapid prototype models within a matter of hours. The durable materials and fine accuracy (0.05mm) make it suitable for even the most complex, small scale medical devices and functional mechanisms. Sample parts will also be available to see on stand H2-L34-2.
